Dr. Andreu Badal

Bio

Andreu Badal, PhD, is a research physicist at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; Center for Devices and Radiological Health; Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories; Division of Imaging, Diagnostics, and Software Reliability in Silver Spring, Maryland (USA). Dr. Badal’s research career is focused on the development and validation of Monte Carlo-based computational modeling and simulation tools that can accurately replicate radiation emitting devices in silico (virtual twins). These computational tools can be applied to a population of patient models to perform virtual clinical trials. As an FDA regulatory consultant, Dr. Badal participates in review teams evaluating pre-marketing applications for software used in x-ray imaging, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy devices, including deep-learning-based software used in radiology.
