Bio
Ane Appelt is an Associate Professor of radiotherapy physics at University of Leeds and a clinical medical physicist at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds. She came to the UK after training in Denmark, with a few short(ish) detours through the US. She’s passionate about improving radiation therapy for patients with cancer, in particular lung and bowel cancer. A large part of her research deals with outcome prediction – that is, predicting who will get cured by the radiotherapy (and who will not), but also who will get side effect from treatment. She’s also heavily involved in designing and running clinical trials, especially studies testing out novel radiotherapy strategies.
